Maasai Village Visit (Boma Visit)

Duration 1.5–2 hours
Location Ngorongoro / Arusha
Price From $60 per person
About This Experience

The Maasai have lived alongside the wildlife of northern Tanzania for centuries, and a visit to a boma is one of the few chances on safari to meet the people whose land this is — not as spectators, but as guests.
EWT works with a small number of communities we've built relationships with over years, and every visit is arranged on the terms the community sets, not the other way around. You'll be welcomed into the boma by a family member, who will walk you through how the homestead is constructed, how cattle are kept and valued, and how daily life is organised around them. Many hosts are happy to share a traditional dance or song, though this is always at their discretion, not a scheduled performance.
This is a conversation as much as a visit — bring your questions, and expect thoughtful answers. Photography is welcome, but always ask before photographing individuals directly, and your guide will help navigate that respectfully.
A meaningful portion of the visit fee is paid directly to the community, separate from any operator margin. It's a small but real way for your visit to translate into direct benefit for the people hosting you.
